ABOUT ETVCC 2017-10-03T09:06:48+00:00

At East Toronto Village Children’s Centre it is our continuous role to promote the health, safety, nutritional and overall well rounded balance of each individual child while at the same time encouraging the children to interact with their teachers and with one another. This responsibility is achieved through ETVCC’s emphasis on fostering positive interactions between staff members, children, parents and members of the community in which we share.

Non-Profit Day Care Centre

ETVCC was incorporated in 1985 as a non-profit day care centre, in response to the area’s need for additional quality day care for preschool and school-age children. Our unique programs, with dedicated staff, are designed to accommodate these two age groups: Preschool (for children aged 2-1/2 to 5 years old) and School-age (for 6 to 12 year olds).

Our program is managed by Early Childhood Educators and administered by a voluntary Board of Directors. ETVCC is inspected and licensed yearly by the Province of Ontario under the requirements of the Day Nurseries Act. We are also inspected three times a year by Toronto Children’s Services to make sure we are meeting the requirements of our Purchase of Service Agreement.

A Board of Directors is elected annually at a General Meeting. The Board is responsible for the major financial concerns and the policy direction of the Centre, and consists of parents of children in care, church members and interested members of the community. All parents of children enrolled at ETVCC are members of the Corporation and are eligible to sit on the Board of Directors. Parents are encouraged to bring their concerns and comments to the attention of the Board of Directors. This should be done through either the Centre’s Supervisor or a Board member.

It should be noted that discrimination on the grounds of race, creed, colour, national origin, political or religious affiliation, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family relationships or disability is prohibited by or within East Toronto Village Children’s Centre.

ETVCC’s excellent staff is made up of qualified Early Childhood Educators and assistants who are dedicated to providing a quality program for your child. Our staff turnover is low and the operators of East Toronto Village Children’s Centre support staff development, providing employees with in-house workshops and reimbursing the costs for field-related courses.
